The Amusement Park

(a ballet in two acts)

The Amusement Park played three performances in Angelico Hall on the Dominican University campus in San Rafael, CA for about 1500 school children and the general public — Dec. 1971 and Jan. 1972. The production was choreographed by Joan Edgerton Gabert and performed by her School of Classic Ballet. The score is written for solo piano and the ballet is meant to be performed in two acts. Lori Gabert played Linda, the girl who meets the Clown at the end of The Parade and who is

subsequently chaperoned throughout the park where many surprises

await her. ... The production was highlighted on T.V.’s “Git Box Tickle”

and it was well-received by the public, garnering a large spread in the

Marin Independent Journal. Proceeds from ticket sales (at 50 cents a head) were donated to the music scholarship fund at Dominican University so that others could enjoy studying music there.

It is my hope that, these many years hence, those who find this music

will enjoy taking this little journey that I encountered so long ago and

which, at the time, brought so much joy into the hearts of those who

not only performed it, but especially those who witnessed one of our

productions. (I have not written a ballet since...)
